2 – Moana

  1. as a Malaysian (living in Borneo island), it’s interesting to see how the Polynesian language (especially Maori) traveled throughout the Polynesian islands, some of the words are still used by us here in Malaysia, for eg: telinga for ears, tua for old, ikan for fish, or langit (ranggi in Maori) for sky, even our numbers are similar lima for 5, enem for 6.

I think that by cross referencing our words with Maoris, we could know what our original Malay language sounds like before the arrival of Hindi and Chinese loanwords.
